INFORMATION FOR FULL DEGREE STUDENTS

  • Academic Year

The academic year at Afyon Kocatepe University is divided in two semesters: the autumn and the spring semester. The autumn semester runs from September to January, and the spring semester from February to June. Examination sessions are held after each semester. Foreign students are admitted twice per year: in September and January. To start academic year a student must have:

    • Payment document for the tuition fee (for non-Erasmus students), health insurance
    • Signed agreement with the University
    • Paid hostel fee
    • Registered in library
    • Obtained residence permit

    Study Process

The main forms of education process during semesters are lectures, seminars, laboratory works and practical classes. Attendance of lectures, seminars, laboratory and practical classes as well as tests and knowledge control at the classes is compulsory. In case of any missed class, a student has to fulfill the appropriate tasks regardless of the reason why class was missed. The time for performing the missing tasks is settled by the lecturer.

    Examination Session

There are two exam periods for each semester as midterm exams and final exams. A student has to attend for both exams in order to get an average score.

    Grading Scheme and Grades

The achievement grade includes the averages of the examination grades within and at the end of the semester. Generally 40% of midterm exams and 60% of final exams are taken into consideration for each lecture to calculate the student's average grade for that specific lecture. The last evaluation taking into account of student's general achievement level of the same course is determined by the course teachers with one of the letter grades below.
